Driving Lessons in Nottingham & Mansfield
Driving is a complex skill, and there is much more to learn than anybody ever thinks, yet with the right guidance almost anyone can learn to drive well. Today's driving test is more difficult and challenging than ever, however Driving Doctor is here to guide you through it.
First, you'll have to take a Theory Test, to show you know the rules of the road, and a Hazard Perception Test, which shows you can anticipate problems instead of just reacting to them. Your Driving Doctor can support and advise you with both.
How many hours of lessons needed is entirely up to the individual. We take things at your own pace. We will also keep track of your progress, so we know what your strengths and weaknesses are to develop your overall driving skills.

Intensive Driving Lessons
Intensive driving courses also known as crash courses are a fastest way to learn to drive. This time next week you could be driving! A one week of intensive driving is a 5 day course, which equivalent to driving for 14 months, if you were to have 1 or 2 hours of driving lessons a week. All your theory and practical tests are included in the intensive driving course.
Pass Plus
After passing your practical test you can take a pass plus course (this is optional). The Pass plus course has a series of six modules and can take up to six hours to complete (six lessons). The Pass Plus course covers:
- Driving Through Towns
- Driving in all weathers
- Rural Road Driving
- Driving at Night
- Driving on Dual Carriageways
- Driving on Motorway Driving
License
Before you start you first lesson, you must have ether a signed provisional license or a photo card license. This must be present to the driving instructor on your 1st lesson or the lesson will be cancaled. (Visit your post office for a D1 form)
Eyesight
To drive legally on the roads you must be able to read a vehicle registration plate from a distance of 20.5 metres or 67 feet. You must be able to do this with or without visual aid. Your instructor will ask you to read a registration plate at the beginning of your first lesson. If you are unable to read the registration plate, you are not legally allowed to drive on the road and the lesson will not be able to commence until you have had your vision corrected.
Health
If your on any type of medication please check with you doctor that you're allowed to drive.
Clothing
We advise you to wear comfortable, flat shoes to get used to the pedals and you also can wear sunglasses.
